Or really, about me, since Sunbreak Soaps is currently a one woman show!
My journey into handcrafted glycerine soaps started with a long sickness
that was passed around my family multiple times and took us months to
recover. During that time, I read every book I could get my hands on
about making soap. I checked out every book that my library carries on
the subject which amounted to about 30 books! Some I flipped through,
others I speed read, and there were several that I sat engrossed with,
absorbing the material like a sponge. Like I said, this went on for
several months before I was well enough, or brave enough, to actually
give it a try.
Then in February 2012, between illnesses, I went to a local soap
supplier and bought my first materials. And so began my soap making
journey! What started as a passing interest quickly turned into an
obsession, and then turned into Sunbreak Soaps!
I make all my soaps using clear or white glycerine base. I melt this
down, add moisturizing and/or exfoliating ingredients, essential oils or
fragrance oils, and either natural or FD & C colorants. Although I
have drawn inspiration from a number of sources, the resulting designs
are my own.
I love to do custom orders - so if you have an idea for a soap I'd love to hear it and turn it into a reality for you!
In my non-soaping life, I am a stay-at-home mom of twins, a wife, and
the kind of person who generally can't hold still for long. My previous
careers have included 10 years of real estate (both residential sales
& apartment leasing), factory worker, retail sales, pet shop girl,
vitamin peddler, zoo volunteer, and church go-er. I have an unnerving
knack for getting along with "tough customers" and a strong belief that
life is what you make of it - so you might as well make it awesome!
